Ukraine, Russia escalate strikes during NATO summit as Zelenskyy urges more air defences

Also high on the NATO agenda is the war in Ukraine, which has escalated in recent weeks. Russia fired missiles on the Ukrainian capital again early on Wednesday – the third attack in less than a week. At least one person was killed and two others injured. Ukraine is facing a shortage of US-made missile interceptors. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appealing for increased military aid and pressure on Russia. Turkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is hosting the summit and he says he shares President Trump's vision for peace in Ukraine. Al Jazeera’s Audrey MacAlpine reports from Kyiv and Yulia Shapovalova is in Moscow. Ed Arnold, senior associate fellow of international security at the Royal United Services Institute, stressed Ukraine needs to leverage battlefield wins strategically and get President Putin to the negotiating table.
