Speaking in Karur, Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay said the town would always hold a special place in his heart and referred to what he described as a painful political conspiracy against him and his party. He announced that TVK would build a memorial in Karur to commemorate the stampede tragedy (during an election campaign rally) and ensure future generations remember it, saying it should serve as a warning against such political conspiracies. Vijay also assured the people of Karur and Tamil Nadu that a future TVK government would focus on improving basic infrastructure and public services while strengthening the state's finances.
