The son of a Gazan doctor detained by Israel says he is "in solitary confinement and regularly subjected to beatings and torture". Dr Hussam Abu Safiya was arrested by Israeli troops in December 2024, when they wanted to organise the evacuation of his hospital, which they believed to be Hamas headquarters. He was then arrested on suspicion of terrorist activity and has been detained in Israel ever since, but no charges have been brought. Multiple organisations including Amnesty International are now calling for his release. The Israeli Prison Service told us that allegations of torture and assault by prison guards are false and entirely without factual basis. The reason for his continued imprisonment remains a mystery - the authorities at his last court hearing said it was based on evidence which remains confidential. • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more stories at http://www.itv.com/news Follow ITV News on TikTok https://www.ti
