Hospitals across La Guaira were damaged by last month’s twin earthquakes, leaving services overwhelmed and some facilities closed. Volunteer doctors, nurses and emergency responders have set up a temporary clinic inside a McDonald’s on the Caribbean coast, providing consultations, wound care and follow-up treatment for survivors, including children and the elderly. Organisers say the centre will remain open as long as donations allow, as volunteer-run sites help bridge gaps in Venezuela’s strained health system.
