Lyle Lambie, an 80-year-old grandfather from Medina, lost his life savings of up to $300,000 and his home of more than two decades to a romance scam. The three-year online relationship began on Facebook with a woman overseas who claimed to be in love with him, but repeatedly requested money through prepaid gift cards for hospital bills, airfare and passports. Lyle has spoken publicly about his experience to warn others about the increasingly common grooming techniques used by online scammers.
