"Do you want to have a baby first, or do you want to get rid of your pain first?" That's the question Agape Siow's doctor asked after she was diagnosed with Stage 4 endometriosis, a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows outside the uterus. She describes the pain as a "prickling, pulling and twisting" sensation, mostly in the pelvic area. Hormone medication helps keep the chronic pain under control, but it also pauses her ovulation, forcing her to choose between managing her pain and trying for a baby. Now, Agape is considering surgery while weighing her hopes of becoming a mother.
