Despite intermittent heavy rains, thousands of demonstrators gathered at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila on Friday for a rally organized by the United People’s Initiative (UPI), a coalition composed of retired military, police, and other uniformed service personnel. According to the organizers, the gathering aimed to provide Filipinos from different sectors a platform to express their opposition to corruption in government.
