The U.S. has carried out another round of strikes in southern Iran amid escalating tensions over the Strait of Hormuz. Explosions have been reported in several places including Bandar Abbas, Sirri, Jask and Qeshm Island, Iranian state media said. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes followed attacks on commercial shipping and targeted Iranian military capabilities in the strategic waterway. Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the strikes, accusing Washington of violating the memorandum of understanding and warning regional countries against supporting US military operations. Al Jazeera reports from Washington and Tehran on the latest developments and the increasing risk of further escalation.
