Sam Neill, the New Zealand actor best known for his leading role in the blockbuster Jurassic Park franchise and in BBC series Peaky Blinders, has died at the age of 78. A spokesperson for Neill’s family confirmed he died on Monday, surrounded by his family. Neill was diagnosed with stage three angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2022, which caused him to take a short break from acting, and he had announced he was cancer-free earlier this year. A statement from his family on his Instagram said: “It is with immense sadness that the whānau of Sam Neill share the news of his passing on Monday 13th July, in Sydney, Australia. Sam was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that has characterised his whole life. “The loss was sudden and unexpected, but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer-free.
