Victoria Police arrest a 20-year-old Essendon man alleged to be the main recruiter for a Middle East-based criminal syndicate responsible for Melbourne's tobacco and bar wars. Detectives from Operation Eclipse claim Jesse Hadchiti hired children to carry out firebombings, shootings, extortions and kidnappings over three years, working under orders from a 23-year-old man who fled to the Middle East. Police allege the syndicate has recruited around 2,000 offenders, with Hadchiti operating from his parents' home using encrypted apps under the alias 'CommBank'.
