Yemen’s internationally recognised government saying the operation was aimed at preventing an Iranian aircraft from landing. The government claims the Iranian plane was carrying military personnel and equipment intended for Ansar Allah Houthi fighters, allegations rejected by the Houthis, who accuse Saudi Arabia of carrying out the attack. Following the strike, the Houthis said they launched missiles and drones targeting Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia in response. The escalation has raised concerns of renewed fighting, with the United Nations urging all sides to exercise restraint and pursue diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
