Counter-terrorism police are now leading the investigation into Ann Widdecombe’s death after officers uncovered new evidence. A 28-year-old man from Rotherham, previously arrested on suspicion of murder, has been re-arrested on suspicion of preparing or carrying out acts of terrorism. Police are still working to establish the motive and have not said the attack was politically driven. The dramatic change comes after CCTV reportedly showed the suspect beginning a 270-mile journey to Devon hours before Widdecombe was attacked.
