Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced might have just made its open world so seamless, it transformed the original Black Flag into a title that could now be a benchmark for how future titles in the genre approach side content. It’s a system that seems so simple in its design, but quite complex in its execution as it created a complex web of economic growth, character progression, and base building that’s woven in quite seamlessly into a pirate/Assassin fantasy that already works very well. Doing so has made it feels like a modernization of a gameplay loop that was only limited by the hardware it was released into, but has now been refined and polished into a potent mix of mechanical prowess and narrative quality. Join us as we take a look at how the fantasy feeds itself in this one, and how we’re the ones eating well in the process.
