Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on Wednesday announced a series of Cabinet decisions, including the establishment of a Business Policy and Process Re-engineering Cell under the General Administration Department to improve inter-departmental coordination and accelerate file processing. The Cabinet also reviewed an expert panel's assessment of the proposed high-speed rail project, deciding that no land acquisition or preliminary construction should begin until detailed economic, environmental and passenger demand studies are completed. The government also approved recommendations for the Padma Awards and extended financial assistance to the family of a school student killed in a road accident.
