Public universities continue to face a funding shortfall of nearly KSh28 billion under the new university funding model. Appearing before the National Assembly's Public Investments Committee on Governance and Education, Julius Migos Ogamba said KSh5.2 billion allocated for TVET student funding has already been disbursed to institutions, but the overall funding gap remains unresolved. The disclosure drew sharp criticism from lawmakers, who questioned the government's spending priorities, citing billions of shillings allocated to political activities while universities continue to grapple with inadequate funding.
