Around five million people could be forced to wait an extra year for their state pension if the retirement age rises to 68 from 2037 rather than the currently legislated 2044 timetable. Those affected, now aged roughly 49 to 55, could lose more than £16,000 in pension income while being expected to work longer or fund the gap themselves. The Treasury says no final decision has been made and that an official review is still under way, but the OBR says bringing the rise forward remains the Government’s current assumed policy position. Ian Collins speaks with founder and Chair of Bright Blue, Ryan Shorthouse. #news #money #politics #economy #pension #finance #work #job #retirement Have you got a story?
