Almost every culture in human history has imagined heaven as somewhere else. Somewhere we're going. A place where the waiting finally ends. And even when we strip the faith away, the structure stays — we all spend our lives reaching for something just ahead of us. A few more years, a few more achievements, a little more peace. And then we'll be there. But what if we've been looking in the wrong direction? What if the heaven we keep chasing was never ahead of us at all? In this talk, I share what I learned the hard way about what that chasing actually does to a life — and what I found when I finally stopped. It's a talk about the cost of always reaching for somewhere else, and the strange, ordinary beauty of being exactly where you are.
