It’s been nearly two years since Israel Defence Forces arrested Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya during a raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Gaza Strip in December 2024. Israel says Abu Safiya is a member of the militant group Hamas but has yet to formally charge or provide any evidence to support the claim. It’s left Abu Safiya in limbo inside the underground detention facility Rakevet in central Israel. He and an estimated 13 other Palestinian doctors have been detained indefinitely, leaving families, medical associations and non-governmental organizations calling for their release. #Gaza #Israel #Healthcare #Explainer #CBCNews »»» Subscribe to CBC News to watch more videos: http://bit.ly/1RreYWS For breaking news, video, audio and in-depth coverage: https://www.cbc.ca/news Follow CBC News on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@cbcnews Subscribe to CBC News on Snapchat: https://bit.ly/3leaWsr Subscribe to CBC News on WhatsApp: https://www.whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb6MSjH9Bb63S9tbQa1Y
