Sales of 100-octane petrol, the only ethanol-free fuel available in India, have more than doubled in recent months as concerns over E20 petrol spread among some vehicle owners through social media posts. Demand has surged despite the fuel costing around ₹160 a litre and being available at fewer than 1% of fuel stations.
