Gears of War: E-Day is certainly high on the list of highly anticipated titles from a familiar franchise. The story taking us back to the early days of the human-Locust conflict was more than enough to have us hooked, but it looks like the Horde Mode is going to do a lot of the heavy lifting as far as keeping us coming back for more is concerned. Taking on vicious waves of Locusts was always fun, but this one brings the cleanest take on the formula yet, while also weaving interesting changes and intelligent additions that expand its size and scope. Combine that with systems and mechanics that are a pleasure to engage with, and you have the makings of a hit. We’ve sunk a few hours into an early build of the Horde Mode, and are here to tell you why it’s a very exciting part of the upcoming title.
