All 55 European footballing nations have agreed to boycott the World Cup in protest at Fifa's plans to sell off a 20 per cent stake in the competition. Building on a largely successful tournament, Gianni Infantino’s plans to privatise the World Cup have brought the wrath of football fans and officials alike. Uefa’s boycott resolution applies to all Fifa-run competitions across men’s, women’s and youth football. The Europeans are in a minority but can there really be a World Cup without Spain, France or England? Money and football are of course no strangers, but Infantino is perceived to be far too close to Trump, his family, and his friends to be trusted.
