Uefa has said it will boycott the World Cup if a plan to sell stakes in the tournament to private investors goes ahead as proposed. Following a virtual meeting of European football's governing body on Thursday, all members voted unanimously to boycott all men's and women's tournaments organised by Fifa if the controversial investment plan is approved. A statement issued on behalf of all Uefa members said all 55 of its member associations, which include the English Football Association, "stand as one" as they "unequivocally reject Fifa's proposal". "The World Cup cannot be treated as an investment product. It is one of football’s greatest sporting legacies," Uefa added.
