Hamas agreed to give up its weapons in exchange for Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, Donald Trump announced. The US president said an agreement had been reached on Thursday evening, hailing it as a “major milestone” for his board of peace. Under the proposal, Hamas would first hand over its heavy weapons to a transitional Palestinian body to be stored and decommissioned.
