White British children are diagnosed with autism at more than 3.5 times the rate of South Asian children, and more than 4 times the rate for ADHD. That's according to new data from University of Leeds and Born in Bradford, shared exclusively with ITV News. So why does this disparity exist? We spoke with teachers, parents and medical professionals who told us about the language barriers, stigma in the South Asian community, and lack of cultural awareness within the system, which means South Asian children are being left behind when it comes to autism and ADHD diagnoses. #autism #adhd #neurodivergence #inequality #southasian • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more stories at http://www.itv.com/news Follow ITV News on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@itvnews?lang=en Follow ITV News on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on X: https://twitter.com/itvne
