Over a century ago The Swan was built to be the fastest and smartest of Shetland’s huge fishing fleet. The boat is still drawing admiration from a whole new generation of fans – none more so than current skipper Maggie. The 2nd largest island in Shetland is Yell where locals are gearing up for a celebration of agriculture, horticulture and local heritage. 3rd gen farmer James and his family have been involved in the show since it started so he’s keen to put on a good show but his cattle are less keen to take part. Resident veg grower John also has big ambitions for the show. He’s hoping to win the battle of the heavyweights with his huge pumpkin. Meanwhile, members of a woodworking group down tools for final rehearsals of their other love - a sea shanty singing group that will perform on the big day. Away from Yell, there’s no sitting down on the job for Eve, the last remaining professional Fair Isle chair maker. It’s a tradition that Eve has gone to huge lengths to preserve.
