Kenya's economy is expected to face a more challenging second half of 2026 as global geopolitical tensions, rising import costs and weather-related risks weigh on growth, despite continued stability in the foreign exchange market. According to Stanbic economists, economic growth forecasts have been revised down to 4.5% in 2026 and 4.7% in 2027, driven by higher imported fuel, fertilizer and industrial input costs. The revelation was made as the bank launched direct yuan cross-border payments to speed up Kenya–China trade. Jimmy Mbogoh has more.
