The James Webb Space Telescope discovered mysterious Little Red Dots scattered throughout the early universe—but as the universe evolved, these strange objects appeared to almost completely disappear. Now, astronomers studying a distant spiral galaxy nicknamed Saguaro may have uncovered a crucial clue. Its compact center behaves like one of Webb’s Little Red Dots, possibly powered by an obscured, rapidly growing supermassive black hole. But when researchers digitally moved Saguaro farther into the early universe, its spiral arms and surrounding galaxy faded from view, leaving only the bright red nucleus behind. Could some of Webb’s Little Red Dots actually be the visible centers of much larger galaxies hidden by extreme cosmic distance? This new discovery also connects to the mysterious blue companions recently found around Little Red Dots, potentially revealing different stages in the formation and evolution of early black holes and galaxies. In this video, we explore the Saguaro gala
