Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia is expected to face charges under the Elections Offences Act after his arrest earlier today for utterances he made on Saturday. The MP is said to have contravened Section 10(3) of the Elections Offences Act, which states that a person who attempts to intimidate voters or influence the result of an election has committed an offence. His lawyers, Ndegwa Njiru and Phyllis Wangui, have stated that they will challenge the charge, arguing that there is no election process ongoing. Kaguchia, who was picked up at Royal Media Services, is being held at Kamukunji Police Station, where he was transferred after being taken to the DCI Headquarters.
