Reform UK has launched Operation Fortress, under which a military-led command would monitor Channel crossings, intercept small boats and transfer their occupants to Royal Navy-operated vessels. Those intercepted would receive food, water and medical assistance before being taken to France or Belgium. Nigel Farage claims the policy could stop crossings within a fortnight. Reform describes the proposal as a lawful “rescue and return” operation.
