Parliamentary standards investigations now hang over the two most senior figures in Reform UK: Nigel Farage and his deputy Richard Tice. [Subscribe to our Substack newsletter: https://channel4news.substack.com/subscribe] This is the backdrop to Reform UK announcing today that if they get into power they would use the Royal Navy to stop the small boats mid-Channel. Reform UK's press conference was overshadowed by continuing questions about party finances and the news that Richard Tice is under investigation by parliament's standards watchdog over an alleged failure to declare an interest while taking part in a debate on Israel. This is on top of the investigation already underway for the party’s leader about the £5 million he received from a Thai-based crypto billionaire. Even though the number of boat crossings has declined year on year, the issue of migrant incursions in general was catapulted to the front pages when 70,000 Moroccans swarmed into the Spanish territory of Ceuta
