Red Cross hand out food in Spain’s Ceuta as refugees refuse to leave #news #breakingnews #ceuta #spain #migrants #europe #crisis Members of the Red Cross distributed food and water to migrants in Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta on Monday (August 3), after many spent several days stranded on beaches following last week's mass border crossing from Morocco. Migrants holding signs asking for asylum queued for bread, milk and canned food as aid workers began a humanitarian response. Ramses Mohamed, a social educator with the ELIN association, a Ceuta-based non-profit organisation dedicated to defending human rights and supporting migrants, said the aid marked the first help many migrants had received in four or five days. He described the situation as a humanitarian crisis and said many of those in Ceuta were asylum seekers from conflict-hit countries including Sudan, Yemen and Mali. Spain estimates that about 69,500 migrants have returned to Morocco since the surge on Thursday
