The English FA is understood to have withdrawn support for Fifa president Gianni Infantino, following his attempt to sell off stakes in the World Cup to private investors. The association is understood to have written to Fifa, making it clear it no longer supports Infantino, following the same move by its Welsh counterpart. Separately, European football governing body Uefa, has threatened Fifa with legal action over Infantino’s failed plan, demanding that any potential evidence should not be destroyed. Last week, Infantino announced he was shelving the widely-denounced plan that was rejected by three confederations, with Uefa insisting its nations would boycott Fifa events. Despite the U-turn, his decade-long reign as the head of Fifa remains under intense scrutiny. Earlier on Monday, Wales became the first nation to withdraw its support following the backlash against Infantino, with Football Association Wales (FAW) saying it had lost confidence in him. • Subscribe to ITV News on
