Over 100,000 village elders will begin receiving monthly stipends from the government in appreciation of their services to the nation. President William Ruto announced the commencement of the stipend program alongside the state-sponsored enrolment into SHA and the purchase and distribution of smartphones to the village elders to enhance their work. The incentives came during a visit by close to ten thousand village elders to State House this morning. Other leaders who attended the meeting used the gathering to drum up support for the President's re-election bid.
