Thames Valley Police chief constable Jason Hogg says it “seems perverse” that PC Andrew Harper’s killers remain eligible for early release under new government exemptions. The government announced on Tuesday that rape, serious child sex offences, and grooming would be exempt from early release, but that manslaughter charges would not be included in the exemption. The Police Federation has threatened legal action against the government to prevent PC Harper’s killers’ release, as Jason Hogg admitted that police officers “feel let down”.
