This week, there's been another example of advanced AI jumping the guardrails - but before you break the emergency glass, the only reassuring thing about the latest AI scare is that it occurred in controlled test conditions. Also this week, the big US AI companies were in the White House to discuss the introduction of rules to ensure all new powerful AI systems are tested before public release. Helen Toner is an AI safety expert who left the board of OpenAI in November 2023 and is now Executive Director at the Centre for Security and Emerging Technology at Georgetown University.
