A couple of years after leaving AFC Richmond, Ted is still living in Kansas City and co-parenting with Michelle but his life is in a weird place as Henry is graduating elementary school, Michelle is facing stress at work and Dottie is selling Ted's childhood home. He is surprised by a visit from Rebecca, Keeley and Higgins, who offer him the head coaching job for Richmond's women's team, which Rebecca and Higgins are secretly having financial troubles with. Ted promises to think it over. During the visit, Rebecca discovers a fondness for Kansas City barbecue but ruins all of her outfits with the sauce, forcing her to buy an overly bedazzled outfit from a local boutique.
