The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has prohibited the production, processing, storage, transportation and sale of analog or non-dairy paneer across the state for one year. Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said the action was taken under Section 30 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, in the interest of public health. According to the commissioner, test results collected over several years found that a significant number of paneer samples were substandard or unsafe.
