Yvette Cooper has said there is 'no good answer' to the situation surrounding the prison early release scheme. The Health Secretary said she understands victims and the public will want the perpetrators of crimes to serve their full sentences, but the lack of prison places means some must be released to ensure there is space for those who commit serious crimes. Under the early release scheme, thousands of prisoners will be eligible for release part way through their sentences. The Government ordered a review into the policy when it emerged that PC Andrew Harper's killers, who were convicted of manslaughter, would be eligible for the scheme. #uk #prison #prisoners
