Talk callers have branded illegal immigration a “national emergency”, claiming it is putting pressure on doctors, dentists, schools, housing and policing. Speaking to Mark Dolan, callers from across the country expressed fears about crime, public safety and the future of Britain. One said: “You try and get into schools, you try and get a dentist, you try and get a doctor. There are very few parts of our daily lives that aren’t affected by it.” Others accused successive governments of failing to control Britain’s borders, with one warning: “If we don’t do something quickly, then we are past the point of no return.” The programme also heard opposing views on Kemi Badenoch’s defence of a former neo-Nazi selected as a Conservative council candidate, with callers debating whether genuine rehabilitation should offer a route into public office.
