Former senior police officer Chris Phillips has warned that failures in Britain’s mental-health system are putting the public at risk after four people were injured in a stabbing in Covent Garden. A woman was arrested after three people were reportedly attacked with scissors and a fourth person was also injured. Police said the incident was believed to be linked to mental health, and the victims’ injuries were not considered life-threatening. Speaking to Julia Hartley-Brewer, Chris argued that psychiatric hospital closures and cuts to community support had left some seriously unwell people without adequate treatment or supervision. He said: “This was described as an isolated incident. It’s far from isolated. We’re going to have to deal with this problem because there are so many people who are mad, bad and sad in our society.” Have you got a story?
