Shaly Farid is 50. He has spent about half his life in prison for various offences, including drug offences, rioting and causing grievous hurt. He was released for the ninth time in May 2023. But anxiety made it difficult for him to work with others, so he opened a nasi lemak stall at Amoy Street Food Centre. But when the business struggled to turn a profit, he joined an apprenticeship under veteran hawker Hajjah Roziah Adon to learn her signature ayam penyet. Watch the series The Hawker Apprentice, where three ex-offenders train under veteran hawkers for the chance to run their own stalls carrying their mentors' names. #cnainsider #prison #hawker #food For more, SUBSCRIBE to CNA INSIDER! https://cna.asia/insideryoutubesub Follow CNA INSIDER on: Telegram: https://t.me/CNAInsiderSG Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cnainsider/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cnainsider/ Website: https://cna.asia/cnainsider
