Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it thwarted a planned terrorist attack in the southeastern provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan. According to Iran's state news agency, the IRGC Ground Force intercepted an armed group that had allegedly entered the country from a neighboring state carrying weapons and ammunition with the intention of carrying out a terrorist operation. The IRGC said its intelligence and surveillance units detected the group's movements before it could reach its target, allowing security forces to launch a preemptive operation. Iranian officials claim two alleged ringleaders of the cell were killed and the group's plans were completely disrupted.
