Five years after the Taliban retook Afghanistan and Western forces withdrew from Kabul, Australian veterans say the country still has unfinished business. Former Australian Army veteran Stephen Moore says Afghans who worked alongside Australian troops were promised protection, but some remain trapped in Afghanistan and at risk because of their connection to Australia. Army veteran Susan Hutchinson, who has helped hundreds of at-risk Afghans, also argues Australia has not done enough to support those who stood alongside its forces. Australia bans pharmaceutical companies from advertising prescription-only medicines directly to the public, unlike the United States, where weight loss drug ads are everywhere. But health experts say pharmaceutical companies are finding ways around those restrictions through “disease awareness” campaigns.
