Reform UK has called for company bosses to face prison if their businesses knowingly employ illegal migrants. The party’s home affairs spokesman, Zia Yusuf, said firms such as Deliveroo and Uber must prevent immigration fraud, claiming existing fines are treated as “a small cost of doing business”. Speaking to Peter Cardwell, Rob Bates, Centre for Migration Control research director Rob Bates agreed that tougher personal sanctions should be considered. He argued that chronically weak enforcement had allowed illegal working to proliferate across Britain’s gig economy. Rob also raised safety concerns about customers receiving deliveries from people who do not match the names or photographs displayed on apps.
