We often admire people who keep going no matter what. Alexandra Privett used to admire that quality in herself too. She shares how years of dance shaped her understanding of commitment, perfectionism, and self-worth—and why walking away from something you love can sometimes be harder than staying. For a long time, Alexandra believed that perseverance meant pushing through. Over time, she began to question whether strength always looks the way we expect it to. Her reflection invites us to reconsider the stories we tell ourselves about achievement, identity, and what it means to move forward. Alexandra Privett is a student at the American International School of Budapest. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
