Police officers have been injured after protests over suspected asylum accommodation in Thetford, Norfolk, descended into violence. The unrest followed claims from local Reform UK councillors that asylum seekers had been moved into houses on a residential street. Footage showed police escorting people believed to be asylum seekers away from the area, although the Home Office declined to comment on individual properties. The Sun’s Thomas Godfrey told Mike Graham that one officer was allegedly bitten and required hospital treatment, while a 68-year-old man was charged after reportedly bringing a baseball bat to the protest. The pair also discussed concerns surrounding plans to house around 1,200 male asylum seekers at a former RAF base in nearby Suffolk. Residents fear the proposals could place significant pressure on a small community. Have you got a story?
