KBA urges CBK to retain benchmark rate at 8.75%

The Kenya Bankers Association has recommended that the Central Bank retain its benchmark lending rate at 8.75 percent when the Monetary Policy Committee meets on August 11. The association says previous rate cuts are already lowering borrowing costs and supporting private-sector credit, at a time when rising food and fuel prices could make a further reduction risky.
