The High Court in Malindi has ruled that Kenya's next General Election was constitutionally supposed to be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, and not in 2027. Justice Mugure Thande, however, suspended the implementation of the ruling until after the 2027 General Election to avoid potential chaos caused by the short timelines. Safina Party leader Jimi Wanjigi now says the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) must prepare for a General Election within two months from next Tuesday.
