America’s emergency oil stockpile has fallen to levels not seen in decades, while the modern economy remains completely dependent on a constant flow of petroleum to keep trucks, ships, planes, factories, and grocery stores operating. This video examines the shrinking U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve, why major cities may have only days of food on store shelves, and how quickly a fuel shortage can turn into a nationwide logistics crisis. We also look at Sri Lanka’s 2022 collapse as a warning of what happens when fuel imports suddenly disappear and transportation networks grind to a halt. Despite record American oil production and the rise of electric vehicles, the system remains vulnerable. Heavy trucks, cargo ships, aviation, and global trade still rely overwhelmingly on petroleum, while U.S. refineries require types of crude that domestic producers cannot always supply. If oil prices climb high enough, the danger isn’t simply running out of gasoline. Shipping can become too expensive
