Spain has introduced temporary border checks for travelers arriving from Italy in a tit-for-tat row over restrictions within the Schengen free-travel area. The dispute was sparked by the arrival of tens of thousands of migrants in Ceuta from neighboring Morocco in late July. Italy responded by placing restrictions on Spanish travelers which Spain has demanded be removed.
